The date has been set! The planning has begun! ANA Convention Boston 2010 countdown begins. Dear All, Namaskar ! We are excited to report to you that our planning has begun in earnest after months of preplanning. We are also excited to report that we have put in place a process that will further have a greater say of people all over North America on how your convention is being planned. We have some brand new ideas that will add to the many popular features from the previous years. We are anticipating the biggest ANA convention ever. With the easy conduit of I-95 Corridor on the East Coast, there are tens of thousands of Nepalis, non-resident Nepalis, Nepali Americans, and friends of Nepal who will be able to just drive here. It has been a while since Boston hosted ANA Convention. The last time in 1997 was the first time a national soccer championship was held. Since then we have grown in size and diversity. The Nepalis and friends in Boston promise you a convention that matches its pioneer spirit. Some of the planned features: - 3rd General Assembly of Nepali Community Based Organizations in North America - Street procession in Nepali cultural costumes (new) - Dohori Sanjh (revival of folk culture- new) - Fewer Forums (time managed) - Bhajan-kirtan and Yoga (optional morning activity) - Exhibitions (art/photography/ornaments) - CAN-USA Conference (3rd Annual) - ASNEngr Conference (3rd Annual) - Visit Nepal 2011 programs (new) - Professional Cultural Programs (improved) - DJ program (replication of 2009!) - 2nd Generation Children Camp (new theme) - Fashion Extravaganza (new management by first Mr. and Ms. Vogue ANA) (current Vogue ANA are Ms. Khusbu Neupane of Berkeley and Mr. Debit Karki of Oakland) - Food Festival (must have) - Grand Concert (big name coming soon….) - North America Soccer Championship (defending champs Hamro F.C. San Francisco) - North America Men’s Basketball Championship (defending champs Boston Ballers) - North America Women’s Basketball Championship (defending champs Ekta, Omaha) - North America Volleyball Championship (defending champs NANC, San Francisco) - North America Table Tennis Championship - 5K Race for Charity (new) We have over 150 volunteers working to ensure that you have the best ANA convention experience ever. On behalf of the Greater Boston Nepali Community we wish you a Happy New Year and eagerly await your arrival this summer with your friends and family. Sincerely, Convening Council Sundar Gurung- Convener | |
